Annarita Bianco

Annarita Bianco is a designer, contemporary jewellery maker and researcher based in Italy. Through Merıstėma Lab, she develops a practice that combines traditional craftsmanship with technological experimentation, moving between analogue and digital processes. Her work explores the relationships among body, matter, technology, and ecological systems, positioning jewellery as a critical and sensory medium for questioning contemporary social and environmental issues. She holds a PhD in Design for Made in Italy from the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, where her research investigated how contemporary jewellery and wearables can foster ecological awareness, encourage engagement in ecological activism, and support interspecies care practices.

Saskia van Es

Saskia van Es

Saskia Kolff – van Es (Amsterdam, 1972) is an art historian. She writes about contemporary jewellery. Her fascination: jewellery materials. The tension between their mythical and harmful sides are part of a piece of jewellery.

Saskia teaches jewellery history and theory at Sint Lucas Antwerpen, in Belgium. She was a member of the board of the Françoise van den Bosch Foundation.

Nathalie Mornu

Nathalie Mornu has worked as an editor for 20+ years, primarily in the field of crafts. Prior to getting a degree in mass communications, she studied furniture making and jewelry fabrication. She has served as Art Jewelry Forum’s managing editor since 2019. She lives in Tuscon, Arizona, in the US, where she embroiders sequins into jewelry, tends her garden, and keeps an eye on her dogs, who have a bad habit of messing with the dangerous wildlife of the Sonoran Desert.

Roberta Bernabei

Roberta Bernabei
Roberta Bernabei is Editor Director of JJR, she instigated it in 2015 and since then she has passionately followed and supported the growth and success of the journal. Roberta is a Reader (full-professor without a Chair) at School of Design and Creative Arts, Loughborough University, UK. Her research interests lie in craft praxis and materiality, exploring cultural heritage, material culture, critical theory, and digital technologies in relation to wellbeing, art, and sustainability.
Her work is widely published and internationally recognised. She has exhibited and curated work for over 30 years, contributing to around 70 exhibitions worldwide, the latest one took place at at BABS Gallery during Milan Design Week 2026 celebrating the Montebello | Bergesio Award.
