There are increasing instances of contemporary jewellers using their practice to work with people in order to understand facets of social contexts more deeply through the making of jewellery. In establishing this theme we wanted to encourage submissions that: discuss such projects; reflect on the nature of collaborating/co-creation; how jewellery practice can be a vehicle for social change/understanding/activism; and consider the dynamics and implications of conducting socially focused jewellery studies.
